Endowments

An endowment gift to BHS is a gift that sings forever.

About This Gift

By establishing a named endowment, you create a permanent fund whose annual earnings support the people and programs you care about most - year after year, long into the future. Whether you want to fund a scholarship for a young singer discovering barbershop for the first time, support a chapter that shaped your musical life, or invest in a program that brought harmony into your community, an endowment makes that commitment permanent.

How It Works

An endowment is a permanent fund. Your gift is invested, and each year a portion of its earnings supports the people and programs you choose - leaving the principal intact to keep giving, year after year. Named endowments begin at $50,000; gifts to existing endowments are welcomed at any level.

Planned gifts may have legal and tax implications. We recommend consulting with your attorney or financial advisor. BHS's team is available for a confidential conversation without obligation.

How an Endowment Comes to Life

  1. 1

You reach out to begin the conversation.

  2. 2

We talk through your vision - what you want your gift to do, not the mechanics.

  3. 3

We prepare an Endowment Proposal: the fund's name, purpose, minimum, distribution policy, and any restrictions.

  4. 4

You review and approve the proposal.

  5. 5

BHS legal counsel drafts and reviews the Endowment Agreement.

  6. 6

You execute the agreement and make your initial gift.

  7. 7

Stewardship begins: an annual performance letter, a thank-you from a recipient, and a personal call each year.

Eligibility

Named endowments begin at $50,000. Gifts to existing endowments are welcomed at any level.
