Big Sing
A belonging event - chapters from across a district, singing together
Barbershop has always been about what happens when more than one chapter is in the room together. The Big Sing is BHS's way of making that happen - bringing chapters from across a district together for an evening of shared singing, chapter performances, and community. We teach tags. We sing polecats. We remember why we started doing this in the first place.
A return to a beloved tradition
The Big Sing is a return to a beloved tradition - when chapters gathered regularly across district lines to sing together. Many of our most loyal members remember it with genuine warmth. Reviving it says something: that we understand what made barbershop meaningful in the first place, and that we are building something forward, not only preserving the past.
How the Evening Goes

Welcome & chapter roll call
Each chapter's contingent stands and is recognized.

Tag teaching - round one
The whole room learns a short barbershop tag together.

Chapter performances
Each chapter performs a song or two, with warm introductions.

Tag teaching - round two
A second, slightly more challenging tag - the energy peak.

Community sing
The full room sings well-known polecats together - the emotional high point.

A giving moment (optional)
Brief and low-key, placed after the singing - never before.

Closing & reception
Gratitude, fellowship, and time to connect.

Eligibility
Open to any district that can bring together at least 5 chapters or 100 singers.
